Speech and Language Therapy (SaLT) aims to support children to communicate successfully with others and to understand the communication occurring in the environment around them. In schools, SaLTs can improve children’s access to the curriculum and social situations.

There are a range of difficulties that SaLTs can help children to address in school. These difficulties may include:

  • Attention and listening skills
  • Understanding and use of language
  • Communication confidence
  • Social skills e.g. making friends and understanding relationships, transitioning to a new environment
